Classes

Regular Weekly Classes...

Claire currently teaches regular classes in Newcastle City Centre, Jesmond, Newcastle and West Moor, Killingworth. She teaches a combination of technique and choreography in her classes, also encouraging her more experienced students to explore the dance through improvisation and solo and group work. Claire's choreographies are designed to both be fun and provide her students with an understanding of the different styles and nuances of Arabic music.

Please wear comfortable clothing (eg workout trousers, leggings, skirt - no jeans please!) and be prepared to dance barefoot. If you want, bring a hip belt or scarf to help accentuate your movements - a limited number will be available to borrow. Please feel free to contact Claire to confirm availability and term dates!

A new term of bellydance classes will be commencing in September. Classes run during term time only. If you are an absolute beginner, you are better off if you can join one of the open level classes within the first few weeks of term, to make sure you get a chance to learn the basics before we move on to more complex material!

St John's Church Hall, Grainger Street - Mondays 5:45pm to 6:45pm

Open Level - suitable for all levels of experience or inexperience! If you are an absolute beginner, however, you will benefit more if you can start within the first few weeks of the term. This term we will be working towards using a veil.

Eleven week course commencing Monday 16th January 2012 - £4.50 per week (£4 concessions), or £44.00 per 11 week course. Attend both this and the Improver + Level class for £8.00 per week (£7.50 concessions) or £80.00 per term (£75.00 concessions). Please contact Claire for details or to reserve your place.

St George's Church Hall, St George's Close Jesmond - Thursdays 6:45pm to 7:45pm

Improver + Level - These classes are for those who want to stretch themselves a little further - students attending this class range from Improver to Intermediate level. It is suitable for those who have attended at least a year of classes already, as we will be tackling slightly more advanced material for which some existing knowledge of basic technique is needed. Please ask if you are unsure as to whether the class will be suitable for you. This term we will be looking at the beladi style.

Eleven week course commencing Thursday 19th January 2012 - £4.50 per week (£4 concessions), or £44.00 per 11 week course. Attend both this and an open level class for £8.00 per week (£7.50 concessions) or £80.00 per term (£75.00 concessions). Please contact Claire for details or to reserve your place. Please note that there will not be a class on Thursday 2nd February due to the Church Pantomime!

Jesmond Pool, St Georges Terrace Jesmond - Thursdays 8.15pm to 9.15pm
