Hafla and Workshops hosted by Tarab Dance Company

St John's Church Hall, Grainger Street, Newcastle NE1 5JG

The Tarab Dance Company (www.tarabdance.com) are currently working on a fantastic new show for 2011, and in order to raise some funds to help make it really spectacular, are hosting a number of events around the UK. These start here in Newcastle this July!

Workshops

A fantastic opportunity to study with some of the Tarab dancers. Sabrina and Anna are fabulous dancers, great teachers and really lovely ladies, and will be here to teach some workshops on subjects we don't get the chance to have a go at often around Newcastle! Both workshops are Open Level. This means that they're suitable for all, and will offer something for everyone.

Workshop 1: Introduction to Khaleegi with Sabrina Owen

1pm - 2.30pm

Learn the sounds and movements from the Gulf regions. An infectious, fun and high energy dance guaranteed to make you smile.

Workshop 2: Bellyton with Anna Bisco

2.45pm - 4.15pm

A fun and funky high energy fusion workshop blending Reggaeton and Belly Dance moves, including both technique and choreography.  Some experience of basic belly dance moves helpful but not essential.

Workshops are a great value price of £12 each, or £20 if you book to attend both workshops. Click here for a booking form.

End of Term Hafla

7pm - 10.30pm

The end of term party, or hafla, is always a great night out giving you the chance to show of what you've been learning, watch some great performances, shop till you drop, win a prize or two and have a good old boogie. Some of the Tarab Dance Company will be performing ... perhaps a teaser for Tarab's new show! Bring your own refreshments.

Haflas always sell out very quickly, and this is a SMALL and intimate venue, so get your tickets quickly to avoid disappointment!

Tickets are £5 each, available from classes, or contact Claire to check availability of remaining tickets.

Walk Like an Egyptian NorthEast

Sunderland to South Shields

We had such good fun at last years inaugural Walk Like an Egyptian NorthEast, that we'ver decided to do it all over again!

Why not join us in your spangly, jangly bellydance gear (and hiking boots!) for the 10 mile walk from Sunderland to South Shields along the beautiful coastline? You can find a map of the route here.

Not only will you have great fun but we'll also hopefully be raising lots of money for breast cancer charity Just Because (www.justbecause.org.uk)! Last year we raised just under £900 - can you help us beat that this year?

We'll start the walk soon after 10am, and should finish mid afternoon, depending on how fast our legs work! We will stop for a picnic lunch half way at the National Trust's Souter Lighthouse property. If you don't fancy the whole walk, why not join us for either the morning or afternoon? Or, if you or your other half fancies stewarding rather than doing the whole walk, volunteers will be very welcome!

To register for the walk, or if you have any queries about the day, please e-mail Claire at bellydance@clairedances.co.uk

If you can't join us, why not join the original WLAE with the lovely Leeds bunch on Saturday 7th August? They walk every year between Leeds and Saltaire and are a very friendly crowd! Contact janec2dance@btinternet.com for details.

... and the great news is that WLAE's are spreading! Vanessa is also running the first WLAE in Hartlepool this year on Saturday 14th August.... if you'd like to join her contact her on 07773 365055 or at vanessa@vanessabellydancer.co.uk
